California Trip Highlights

If you’re following me on Instagram or Facebook you probably know that I was in sunny California two weeks ago. I’ve been so busy since I got back that I’m just getting to this highlights post now.

We had a great time in California and enjoyed a much needed break from the cold weather. It was my first time there although my better half had been there many times before.

We were there for 5 days so we decided to plan out each day and make an itinerary to maximize our time there. We were able to fit in so much in to our short time in California so I’ll only be sharing some of my highlights.

Our first day was set aside for travel and actually getting to Los Angeles. We stayed at a hotel on Sunset Boulevard which was a great location for us with many food spots and easy access to other areas of the city.

Day Trip to San Francisco

We decided to take a semi-private flight via a company called Jetsuitex and I really loved this experience. Jetsuite has its own hangar at Burbank airport so you skip the long lines and intimidating security checks that you deal with when flying commercial. You basically arrive about 15 minutes before the flight, sit in a lounge and board when the plane arrives. The on-board amenities are great too with a full bar services along with healthy snacks. After this relaxing flight we spent the day exploring San Francisco and headed back to LA in the evening.

Dinner at Nobu Malibu

We spent our third day exploring downtown Los Angeles and headed to Malibu for dinner. We’d heard really good things about Nobu Malibu so we decided to check it out. We loved this Japanese restaurant. The view from the patio was great even at night. The service was amazing as well, probably the best I’ve had at a restaurant.

Rodeo Drive

How could I go to L.A. and not visit Rodeo Drive right? I was totally having a Pretty Woman moment here. I absolutely loved this part of the trip. We had a great time walking down Rodeo and checking out all the posh shops. Throughout this trip we also treated ourselves to some stylish rides. For Beverly Hills we rented a Porsche using an app called Turo. It’s an affordable and convenient way to rent a car of your choice.

Another highlight of this trip was the food. We literally ate so much all the time. My favourites were fish tacos, happy hour treats and of-course a hamburger from In-n-Out! We also checked out the rooftop restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria. I really enjoyed this rooftop as it had awesome views of the city and the hills.

I hope you enjoyed our trip highlights. Have you been to California before, if so what was the best part of your trip? Leave a comment and let me know.

White Jumpsuit

I’m back after a small break and yup it’s still winter. Luckily I was able to escape the cold and head south of the border to Los Angeles for a few days. I did a bit of shopping here in Canada before my trip and one of the pieces I’m obsessed with is this white jumpsuit from H&M.

I love jumpsuits and rompers for spring and summer so when I saw this in store I just had to grab it. I wore this jumpsuit for a day of sightseeing around Los Angeles. I liked this piece as its comfy and chic.

WhatI love about this piece is that you can dress it up or down. I paired this jumpsuit with some nude sandals and a tan cross-body bag for a casual yet chic look. For a more formal look you could pair it with darker sandals and accessories as well. I think this jumpsuit would be perfect for spring or summer day or even an evening out. Are you a fan of jumpsuits?

I had such an amazing time in Los Angeles and will be sharing more about my trip in the next post. I also had a special photographer, my better half with me on this trip so I hope you enjoy the photos.

Plaid Neutrals for Winter

Can you believe it’s already the second week of January already?! Winter is definitely here and two things I’m loving this season are plaid and neutrals.

Neutrals never really go out of style and they’re always great to tone down an outfit. I was thrilled to find this adorable skirt with a plaid inspired print. I like how this skirt incorporates pink, brown and black stripes which make it easy to pair with a wide range of tops and accessories.

I styled this skirt with a simple black turtle-neck and otk boots. Side note – OTK boots are a Winter go-to for me. They’re great with skirts or pants and keep your legs warm in the freezing winter temperatures.

What are some of your favourite trends this Winter?

Holiday Skincare with iS Clinical

The holidays can be a busy time for everyone. With all the parties, celebrations and excitement it’s easy to forget about taking care of yourself and your skin. This year I made it a point to spend more time on skincare and incorporated iS Clinical products in to my daily routine.

I first heard about these products through my aesthetician Cherine at MC Laser Clinic. I usually go to Cherine to keep my eyebrows in top shape (I like to have them threaded instead of waxed) so if you’re looking for a threading artist in Ottawa I highly recommend her.

I’ve noticed a considerable difference in my complexion since I started using iS clinical products. My skin is clearer and more hydrated, which is really important in the colder, dryer Winter months.

I’ve outlined my skincare routine below:

Morning

  1. One pump of the Cleansing Complex
    • Foam and massage in to face for 2mins
    • Scrub off and rinse
  2. 5 drops of the Super Serum Advance + and 3 drops of the Hydra-Cool
    • Apply to face
    • Add moisturizer

Evening

  1. One pump of the Cleansing Complex
    • Foam and massage in to face for 2mins
    • Scrub off and rinse
  2. 5 drops of the Active Serum and 3 drops of the Hydra-Cool
    • Apply to face
    • Add moisturizer

iS Clinical products are made with plant based ingredients. A full breakdown of product ingredients can be found on each of the product pages linked above. You find these and other iS Clinical products at MC Laser Clinic in Ottawa.

Thank you to Cherine and MC Laser Clinic for sponsoring this post.

Sparkle and Shein this Holiday Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. I simply love Christmas and the holiday season, and what better way to celebrate than adding some Shein to your wardrobe.

I discovered Shein.com about a year ago but I wasn’t aware that they shipped to Canada until recently. I love this online store as they have a huge selection of stylist pieces at affordable prices.

If you know me you know that I love everything that sparkles, so I was thrilled to find these two sparkly holiday skirts on Shein. The first look is a more retro inspired high waited flare skirt. I love the gold flower print on the this skirt. The high waist is also very flattering. I paired it with a black shimmer bodysuit and pumps for a more retro-inspired look.

The second skirt I picked up is this ombre sequin mini that I just adore! This piece is fun, flirty and perfect for a party. It would be a great addition to a new year’s eve outfit (I’ll also be sharing a new year’s eve outfit idea shortly). I opted for a more subdued look and paired the skirt with a black turtleneck and boots.

Have you ever shopped on Shein and if so what has your experience been like?

His and Hers Christmas Looks

Merry Christmas everyone! It’s been a while since my last post but I’m happy to be back! I’ve been pretty busy with lots of good changes lately but I’m happy to announce that I’ll be transitioning to a new job in the 2019 which will give me more time to devote to blogging.

If you know me well you know that Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. This Christmas is especially great for me as I get to share it with family, loved ones and friends here in Canada. I don’t know about you but adding a little red to my wardrobe always helps me get in to the Christmas spirit. I had my better half Sash help me out with putting together these his and hers Christmas looks.

I was initially looking for a Santa dress but I found this adorable faux fur trim velvet skirt on Asos.I used the skirt as inspiration for my Christmas theme outfit. I added a simple long sleeved tee and boots to give it a less formal, fun look.

I’ve linked the items from our outfits and set below. We had a lot of fun with this photo shoot thanks to our photographer Ricardo Boreka and Lenz Studio.

I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas! I’ll be back with some New Year’s Eve looks soon 🙂

Mad for Plaid

It’s December, which it’s the Holiday season has officially kicked off! Plaid is definitely as trend I’m loving this holiday season. It’s so chic and festive which definitely helps you get in to the Holiday spirit. Ive put together some of my favourite plaid looks for the holiday season.

Faux Wrap Tartan Skirt

Wanna be tartan something? Well then this skirt is for you. I like the faux wrap style of this skirt and the faux leather detailing at the waist. It really has a Christmas feel to it with the red plaid. I paired this skirt with this adorable sweater from Walmart for a cute and festive Christmas look.

Plaid Bodycon Dress

The moment I saw this plaid dress at Garage I simply had to have it. I love the red and green colours in this dress. As this is a strapless dress and we’re currently in the middle of Winter here in Canada, I paired it with a fitted turtleneck and tall boots. I’m a huge fan of this comfortable yet chic holiday look. This particular piece is part of the Sierra Furtado collection at Garage which includes other cute plaid pieces that are just perfect for the season.

Belted Mini Skirt

Plaid doesn’t have to be reserved for holiday parties, you can easily incorporate it into your weekday look with this belted skirt from Forever 21. The blue and green colours in this skirt make it less “christmassy” and more work appropriate. I styled it by adding a white turtleneck with opaque tights and flats to give it more of a Winter feel.

Tweed Metallic Skirt

It’s  getting to be that time of year again! Fall is fading and making way for Winter, which means Christmas is around the corner. I find everyone dresses up at this time of year and metallics are all the rage this season. I was thrilled to come across this adorable metallic tweed skirt. I found it at Forever 21 and it was so popular it’s sold out! But… I’ve linked some similar pieces at the end of this post 😉

When I first saw this skirt in store it totally gave me the 90’s vibes. For some reason this skirt reminded me of something Fran Drescher would wear on The Nanny. As 90’s fashion is back in style now I decided to pick it up. I like the gold metallic thread and button details in this skirt which give it a more festive feeling.

I decided to put on a modern spin on this 90’s inspired skirt. I paired it with a classic black turtleneck and over the knee boots. Since the weather has gotten a lot chillier in Canada lately, I added a white wrap coat for some contrast.

I know it’s been a while since my last post so I’m going to make a genuine effort to post more consistently.

I’ll be sharing more of my holiday style finds in the coming weeks so stay tuned!

Leaf Print Sweater Dress

Can you believe it’s November already! Although it doesn’t feel like Fall anymore (it’s gotten much colder here in Ottawa) Fall fashion is still around unlike some of the leaves on the trees. As it’s gotten colder I’ve switched out my Summer dresses for sweater dresses. I came across this comfortable yet chic leaf print sweater dress at Suzy Shier. The three-quarter sleeves and midi length of this dress make it a great workwear choice.

I love the leaf print as it resembles the leaves changing colour in the Fall. I paired this dress with some burgundy opaque tights as I wanted to pick up on the colour in the dress. I also added some matching burgundy pumps. In keeping with the Fall theme I found this adorable felt hat that went perfectly with the light brown colour in the print.

Fall coats are another item I love and I added a warm and cozy wrap coat to this look to finish it off. I picked up this coat at Suzy Shier and it comes in four other colours. I also got it in red – for Christmas perhaps?

P.S. Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year and I will be starting my series of holiday posts soon so stay tuned!

Belted Plaid Pants

It’s been a while since my last post as I’ve been quite busy with my day job. Since I’ve been occupied with work I thought a workwear post would be appropriate. Plaid is a Fall staple and I was able to keep up with the trend with these belted high-waisted plaid pants from Suzy Shier.

These pants are so comfortable and flattering. The belt accentuates the waist and instantly gives you more shape. The pants are cropped at the ankle and perfect for pairing with your favourite pair of work pumps.

I styled these pants with a classic white work shirt. I typically don’t like long sleeved shirts so I opted for a more casual look and rolled up the sleeves. I added some pearls for some femininity to off-set this menswear inspired look.

What do you think about plaid for Fall, can you make it work?
