Blue Sparkle Dress

Bring on the bling! As you probably noticed I’ve been featuring some of my holiday party looks in the past couple of weeks. I’ve teamed up with one of my favourite Canadian brands,  Suzy Shier to bring you guys some great holiday party outfit ideas 🙂 Wrapping up my holiday style posts is this beautiful blue sparkle dress.

This dress is form fitting and figure hugging. The draping in the front gives it more of a feminine flair and ofcourse I love the sparkle! Imaging lighting up the dance floor in this dress on new year’s eve?! You’ll certainly be the belle of the ball. The best part about this dress is that it’s just $45 regular price! I can’t imagine a better deal. If you are a prestige card member you can save an additional 10% off this already amazing price.  If you don’t have a prestige card you can get one in-store or online.

I hope you enjoyed my Holiday Style series 🙂 Special thanks to Suzy Shier for letting me play dress up in all these gorgeous outfits!

Black Halter Jumpsuit

How’s your holiday party shopping going? I got another great outfit at Suzy Shier! I found this form fitting black halter jumpsuit that is the ideal mix of sophisticated and chic. The high neck accentuates the shoulders and the sheer detail in the front gives it just a hint of flirtyness. The best part about this jumpsuit is that it’s so comfy! Comfort is hard to come by when it comes to party clothes but this outfit is an exception 😉

To accessorize I chose to add some sparkle! I re-purposed a beaded scarf I picked up at Suzy as a belt to break up the black of the jumpsuit. You can still find the scarf in store!  I also added a sparkly silver clutch to add a bit more glitter and glam. You can also find the purse in-store. I’d say it’s worth the visit 😉

Burgundy Lace Dress

Have you started shopping for your holiday outfits yet? I have! I’ve got a few Christmas parties and business events coming up so I’ve decided to stock up on some party wear. I found this elegant burgundy lace dress at Suzy Shier that is just perfect for a Christmas party.

The lace  detail automatically gives  the dress a touch of elegance and class. The deep burgundy colour is just perfect for the holiday season and adds a festive touch. The black banding around the bottom of the dress gives it just a hint of sheer. This dress is the perfect mix of demure and daring. I paired the dress with opaque black tights and black heels but you could do a bare leg if you’re more daring.

To accessorize I picked up this cute black clutch purse with a pearl clasp. I must say I am loving tthe  accessories at Suzy Shier and their holiday collection. As always Suzy Shier offers great clothes at an even better price. The dress retails for just $55! Suzy has been known to have 40% off sales so keep your eyes open for the next one and you could pick up the dress for even less 😉 Who doesn’t love a great deal!

Black Velvet Romper

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas truly is my favourite time of year. I love all the family gatherings, the lights, the cooking and of course the holiday fashion! This year I’m noticing the velvet trend with many retailers showcasing it in their holiday collections. Dynamite launched a few of their holiday items a couple of weeks ago and I picked up this cute and comfy black velvet romper.

The velvet adds a touch of elegance and class to go along with the chic deep black colour. The romper is strapless but comes with attachable straps if you need a little more support or just want to change up the the look. I paired it with this off-white long blazer that I got at Dynamite a few years ago, however you can still find a similar white blazer in store. For the legs I decided to go with a patterned tights as it’s getting a bit colder here in Ottawa. If you’re lucky enough to live in a warmer climate you could opt for a bare leg with this piece. Opaque black or coloured tights would also work or you could go for the bare leg illusion and pair it with some flesh coloured tights. The best thing about this romper is that it’s not strictly a seasonal piece, it can be worn year round in lieu of a little black dress perhaps? 😉

Floral Maxi Blazer

I am totally loving the floral trend this fall. I’m a huge girly so I love anything to do with flowers and floral print. How cute is this floral maxi blazer? This is truly a statement piece that will make you stand out in the crowd. The blazer has ties at the waist that allow you to adjust the fit and can be worn as an over piece or a dress. I decided to wear it as an over piece and had the ties at the back. You can also wear it as a wrap dress that ties on the side

I picked up this blazer at Dynamite. It’s available in 2 colours – the burgundy which I’m wearing and a black floral print. The black option is a little different in that it has pockets and a longer collar. Both colours have a ties and slits down the side. Which one would you choose?

Remembrance Day Fascinator

Remembrance Day is coming up this Saturday and I’ve found the perfect fascinator for the occasion. I recently teamed up with Unique Accessories to show off some of their fabulous fall fascinators.

This gorgeous grey and black fascinator with red flowers is so fitting for remembrance day. The grey colour and black netting is reminiscent of trenches and barbed wire and the red pop of colour is symbolic of the blood that was shed during the world wars. The flowers also look a little like poppies, the international symbol for remembrance and veterans.

The hat itself is a one of a kind creation by Lilliput hats. This famous Canadian company is known as the milliner to the stars whose creations have graced the heads of celebrities such as Celin Dion, Whoopi Goldberg and Rachael McAdams to name a few. Lilliput hats was also the hat maker of choice of the late great Gord Downie . The front man for the band The Tragically Hip was known for the ornate hats he donned during concerts. It was such an honour to wear a piece made by such a well respected milliner. Although Lilliput itself is located in Toronto, Ottawans can choose from a wide selection of their products at Unique Accessories which is located in the Carlingwood Shopping Centre.

Pink Wrap Coat

I don’t know if you noticed but I kind of have a thing for pink. As Audrey Hepburn put it “I believe in pink”. I found this adorable blush pink wrap coat that is just right for the colder weather we’re having lately. November is in with a vengeance and with it comes colder, damper weather. This warm and cozy coat from Suzy Shier is perfect for the cold November days ahead.

This coat is  so soft and comes with an ultra chic satin lining, matching the exterior colour. The belt around the waist allows you to adjust it for size so you can control how loosely or tightly you want the coat to fit. I also love the longer length of the coat as it offers more warmth and protection from the cold November winds we’ve been experiencing. The best part about this coat is that it’s only $59.99! Can you believe it?! I don’t think I could find a better deal anywhere else. If pink is not your colour the coat also comes in black, grey and cream. I paired this coat with my new favourite Burberry scarf and this super cute hat by Lilliput Hats which I found at Unique Accessories.

If you do decide to pick up this coat or any other item at Suzy Shier make sure you sign up for their prestige card which entitles you to 10% off every purchase including sale items. I can honestly say the prestige card is one of the best loyalty programs out there. The card is valid for a year and costs $25, however you definitely make up for this fee and more in the savings you earn throughout the year 🙂

Red and Black Fascinator

I don’t know about you but I love fascinators! If you’re wondering just what a fascinator is . . . it’s basically a fancy headpiece or hat. Some fascinators even come with a hairband attached so you just wear it like you would a regular hairband. I find they add a touch of elegance and can dress up any outfit. Many people are apprehensive about wearing a fascinator as they think it’s either too ostentatious or old fashioned or they simply don’t have an occasion to wear it to. I think they’re great and can be worn to a high tea, summer party or even a wedding.

I recently teamed up with Unique Accessories to feature a few of their fabulous Fall fascinators. I’ve always loved this store because it reminded me of playing dress up as a child. I often go in an try on some of their hats or jewelry. The staff are always friendly and welcoming so it’s easy to get carried away and lose track of time. Unique Accessories is located in the Carlingwood Shopping Centre on Carling Avenue.

I especially liked this red and black fascinator because of its simplistic clean lines. I paired it with this red and black printed dress from Suzy Shier.  I thought this would be a perfect outfit for remembrance day as the black flowers on the dress look a little like poppies. The fascinator just adds a great finishing touch to this whole outfit. To pull the whole outfit together I added a bag from Michael Kors which I picked up last boxing day 🙂 Would you ever consider wearing a fascinator?

Chanel Inspired Blazer

Coco Chanel was the epitome of style and glamour when it came to fashion, so it’s no surprise that the label which bares her name and legacy is still the gold standard in the fashion world. The Chanel label was famous for its classic looks and of course the Chanel suit. Although Chanel is lovely it also comes with a hefty price tag which is sometimes a little hard to justify. You can however find some really great pieces which are Chanel inspired.

I found this great Chanel inspired blazer at Suzy Shier. It has the typical Chanel suit style with the tweed look and the pockets on the sides with a gold trim on the border. The grey colour is also versatile as you can dress it up or down. I chose to pair this blazer with a basic white t-shirt and skinny jeans also from Suzy Shier.  This blazer is definitely a class piece to add to your wardrobe. You can dress it up by pairing it with a work dress or a dressy blouse. Isn’t it nice to be inspired by such an iconic designer 😉
