Hello! I’m back with my first blog post of 2024! A little later in the year than I’d planned but this year has already been so busy for me. The biggest news is that I got married! Sashien and I got married in Sri Lanka in January and then went on an extended honeymoon across three countries.
I’ll share more about the honeymoon destinations, itineraries, travel planning and accommodations in a series of blog posts soon. I’ve been sharing bits and pieces of our honeymoon on my Instagram account so feel free to check out the content there.
Our wedding was on the 18th of January but prior to that we had a pre-shoot included as part of our photography package. Funny story, we didn’t realize this until a few weeks before the wedding. We got to Sri Lanka around January 8th and had our shoot on January 14th. I wanted a tropical theme to the shoot and I really wanted an old colonial building for the setting. I’ve always loved the colonial style architecture in Sri Lanka. We were lucky to be able to secure 55 TG Suites for our shoot location, which is a boutique hotel in Colombo.
Since our shoot was on a Sunday we were also able to do some street shots right in the middle of the city of Colombo’s business and financial district. We had our favourite photographers from Dream Studio who also did our engagement photos.
I’ve linked my outfits or similar items at the end of the post.
I’ll be sharing more of our wedding when we have our official photos but stay tuned for some travel content!
It’s been a while since I did a fashion post and I’m super excited to share my outfits from our recent trip to California! It was so great to finally get to travel, albeit just across the border to the USA. As Sashien and are both fully vaccinated we were able to fly to the US and back without any difficulty (I’ll pop up an Instagram story for any of your travel related questions).
As with any trip we always like to plan our itinerary beforehand and have everything organized, which means all the flights, activities and restaurant reservations are booked well in advance. This also helps with packing and outfit planning. We had a flight every other day so I needed to be organized and know what I wanted to wear to each outing.
Here’s what I wore in California:
Leopard Print Top & High Waisted Pants
I wore this look to what I thought would be brunch at the London West Hollywood. Instead Sashien had planned a surprise for me and took me to the rooftop at the Peninsula Hotel. This wasn’t my original outfit choice (I had planned to wear a pistachio green slip dress) but Sashien insisted I should dress up a bit more, and boy am I glad I did.
My top is from Shein and I love the print and cut away neckline. This top is so light and airy as well. I paired it with the Heidi wide leg pant from Dynamite. These pants come in many different colours and the high waisted look went well with the top. You can also wear this top with shorts or a skirt. To finish off this look I added a hat that I also picked up from Dynamite, because you just can’t go to Beverly Hills and not wear a hat. If you’re looking for a place where it’s okay to be extra then BH is it! To tone down the look and blend in the colours I wore nude sandals.

Ruffle Detail Halter Dress
This dress was such a great find to wear during a hot summer in California. It’s also from Shein and it’s so comfortable and chic! I love that this is a one-piece outfit. This dress traveled well and needed minimal ironing which was great. I added a pair of snake print Tory Burch flip flops to give some contrast to the dress. For some extra flair I accessorized with some long earrings. This photo was taken at the historic Hotel De Anza in San Jose. We had no idea this hotel had such a rich and storied history when we booked it online but we loved the art deco elements mixed in with modern touches at this hotel.

One Shoulder Ruched Dress
I wanted something a little more fun and out there for dinner in San Jose so I wore this hot pink one shoulder dress. It also traveled so well, I didn’t need to iron it at all! The ruching was really flattering and forgiving ( we had been eating out for the last few days so I was a little worse for ware). I felt like a Barbie doll in this dress and I just love the colour! I went for a more simple look with this and added some sparkle with a gold metallic purse.
We went to dinner at Pedro’s in San Jose as we wanted to try some tex mex food and this restaurant didn’t disappoint. First of all, how gorgeous is the outside! It’s built to resemble a classic Spanish villa and the inside of the restaurant is just as nostalgic. The food was great and we really enjoyed the cocktails too. This restaurant was huge and we felt really safe inside with plenty of social distancing.

Floral Print Cami Dress
Our travels from took us from San Jose to San Francisco, and since we had both been there before we decided to spend a day in Palo Alto. For our day out in Palo Alto I wanted a dress that could go from day to night without being overly dark in colour. This floral print cami dress was an easy choice. It worked perfectly for shopping and walking around during the day and transitioned well for dinner at Nobu Palo Alto in the evening. This dress was also travel friendly although the material was a little bit warmer than some of my other choices. Since the weather in Palo Alto wasn’t overly hot I was comfortable in this dress. I wanted a very easy carefree look so I paired this dress with nude sandals and a straw bag with pompom details.

I hope you enjoyed my California vacation looks! Don’t forget to look out for my story sticker where you can send me all your travel questions!
Can you believe it’s almost September? I’m not thrilled that Summer is coming to an end but I do love Fall fashion. I recently shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and stocked up on some Summer pieces. Living in Canada we unfortunately don’t have access to all the Nordstrom sale items before they sell out but I was able to find some similar pieces from Canadian retailers.Today I’m sharing one of my favourite Fall transition pieces.
I love this checked blazer I picked up at Dynamite. It’s a versatile piece that can be dressed up or down. There was a similar blazer that was part of the Nsale as well. I paired the blazer with a white lace trim tank top and high waisted jeans which are also from Dynamite.
You can also pair this blazer with a black tank top, or a white or black mock neck top. For cooler weather I would pair it with a turtleneck. I like that this blazer can be a casual or work wear look depending on how you style it. I was going for more of a casual look.
To accessorize I picked up this triple chain medallion necklace at Dynamite. It’s very similar to the popular Styled Collection medallion necklace but at a lower price point. I picked up these Steve Madden booties at the Nsale and they paired perfectly with the entire outfit. These particular booties run a bit small so I went up a half a size to a 7 in them.
I finished off this outfit with my favourite anniversary sale find which a purse from Tory Burch. You can wear it as a cross body or carry it as a clutch and the colours are just perfect for Fall.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and you’re enjoying the holiday season. Can you believe we will be in to a new decade in a few days?! 2020 is around the corner and it’s going to be a great year.
Whether you’re going out or staying in New Year’s Eve is something to celebrate.Have you picked out your dress for New Year’s Eve yet? Here are few of my favourite dresses for NYE.
My first pick is this black mock neck dress from Dynamite Clothing. I love the silver studded detail and the puffed sleeves give it a great finish. I paired this dress with a rhinestone buckle belt and some door knocker earrings. I really wanted to accentuate the silver in this dress. I also like that this dress is velvet, it’s a great fabric for Winter.
My second pick is a little unconventional for NYE but I think the colour and fabric are so classy. This satin one shoulder dress is an elegant choice if you want a break from the sparkle and shine of typical NYE dresses. I love the royal blue colour (the dress also comes in black) and the one shoulder detail of this dress. The draping in the front also make it figure flattering. I accessorized this dress with some embellished tights and rhinestone door knocker earrings.
P.S. I’m currently running a giveaway for a Dynamite Gift Card, details can be found on my instagram page.
If you want to go the more traditional route then this dress is for you. This gold dot printed dress is perfect for NYE! I like this dress because it’s stylish, comfortable and the gold dots look like confetti against the black fabric. This dress also photographs really well and has a sophisticated chic look to it. In this photo I paired it with some black tights and black pumps but you could also pair this dress with gold pumps for a really festive look. I picked this dress up last year at Le Chateau but it’s back again this year and under $100!
I’m back . . . after a long hiatus. My last post was in June, yikes! Can you believe we are at the end of August already? It’s almost Fall, one of my favourite seasons. What I love about this time of year is transitioning in to my Fall wardrobe and picking up new pieces for the cooler weather. This year I’ve been focussing a lot on workwear and versatile pieces that can wear well in to the Winter.
I am currently loving all the Fall workwear at Dynamite this year. I picked up all the pieces in this outfit from their Fall collection. One trend I’m noticing this year is plaid. Once again we are mad for plaid and these skinny high waisted pants are no exception. I like how stretchy and versatile these pants are. They are a quite snug to begin with but have some stretch to them so resist your instinct to size up and stay true to your size with this item.
I paired the pants with a fitted camel turtleneck. I like how soft and comfortable this top is when you wear it. Camel, caramel and soft browns are another popular trend this Fall and this turtleneck is a perfect way to incorporate the trend in to your transition wardrobe.
To finish off the look I added a black blazer for contrast. It also picks up on the black stripes in the plaid pants. For a more neutral look you can add a camel blazer and stick with the soft brown tones on top.
I accessorized this look with a pair of timeless leopard print pumps for a little sass. For a more conservative look you can always wear a pair of black pumps. If you want to go the more edgy route this pair of leopard print mules is a great alternative as well.
Are you looking forward to Fall? If so what are your favourite Fall fashion trends?
It’s definitely feeling like Fall outside and one trend I’m loving this season is pearls. I was thrilled when I saw this pearl detail blouse in-store at Melanie Lyne. Pearls are such a feminine and classy touch to any piece and this blouse is no exception. I love the chiffon fabric in this blouse and the high neckline. The pearls across the neckline give this piece a formal finishing touch. I also like the pearl buttons at the wrist, so classy and elegant.
This is a great blouse for work or an evening out. I went for a more corporate look when styling this piece. I paired the blouse with a checked print midi skirt. The pattern on the skirt helps balance out the plain black blouse. To accessorize I added a pair of basic black pumps – workwear must-have and my favourite satchel bag by Michael Kors.
I like the fact that this blouse adds some elegance to my workwear look. I’ve worn this outfit to work before and I simply love it. What do you think about the pearl detail trend this Fall?
Is it too early to start shopping for Fall yet? I don’t know about you but Fall is one of my favourite seasons for Fashion. The air is cooler, the leaves are changing and people just seem to dress up more in the Fall. I’ve been doing some browsing for my new Fall wardrobe and lately I’ve been loving all the designer sweaters and their more affordable dupes! If you know me personally you know I love a good bargain so here are some of me favourite Fall sweaters and their dupes.
Colourblock is back and trending this Fall and these sweaters are no exception.
This pullover sweater from Topshop was all the rage during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Unfortunately it’s not available in-stores in Canada and doesn’t ship to Canada.
Luckily I found this dupe at H&M for a fraction of the price 😉 This striped colourblock sweater is only $20 and readily available in-store and online in Canada. It’s a great way to get the look and stay on trend for less!
In keeping with the colorblock trend I also found this pullover from B.P. at Nordstrom. It’s available in Canada in-store and online and was also part of the anniversary sale.
Rounding out my choice of Fall sweaters is a cardigan. I loved the Halogen varsity knit cardigan but I couldn’t get it in my size and it’s no longer available in Canada.
I was so glad when I came across this dupe from Dynamite that looks just like the white version of the Halogen sweater, with a splash of color. This sweater retails for $55 and gives you the same preppy chic look.
What do you think about designer dupes – would you splurge on the real thing or get the look for less?
Nothing says Spring like pastels and florals right? How cute is this bodysuit and jogger pant combo? I found the sweetest floral bodysuit at Dynamite! I love the muted colour of this bodysuit. It’s so soft and feminine. The wrap front gives it a dressier look and I would even wear this bodysuit to work. I also found a pair of super comfy jogger pants. I’m liking the comfortable chic trend that’s emerging this Spring and this jogger pant (also from Dynamite) fits the bill perfectly. What I liked about this pant is that it’s a pull on, there’s no drawstrings or zippers to worry about. The pant has some stretch to it so it fit well over the bodysuit. I paired this combo with a pair of super cute sling back kitten heels. These shoes are so comfortable, and stylish. This reminded me of a perfect Spring outfit that could go from workweek to weekend 🙂
It’s officially the first day of Spring! I don’t know about you but I’m ready for Winter to be done! In hopes of better weather, I’ve already started shopping for my Spring wardrobe. I love all the spring accessories I’m seeing in-stores lately. I’m currently loving this wooden watch from JORD.
My watch is part of the Frankie Series by JORD and I chose the Zebrawood and Champagne combo. I love the warm tone of the Champage face and the markings on the Zebrawood band and links. The best part about this watch is how lightweight it is. The wood is so light and smooth that you barely realize it’s on your wrist, unlike stainless steel or metal watches than can weight your wrist down and even cause skin irritation. This timepiece is a truly unique and functional piece of jewelry. It’s also a great conversation starter and statement piece. You’ll definitely stand out from the crowd with this accessory.
If you loved the wooden and bamboo bags that were all the rage last Spring and you’ve alreayd picked up some straw bags for this Spring well then the only item you’re missing is a wooden watch from JORD. With its minimalistic design and wooden links this watch goes so well with any Spring bags or shoes. It’s subtle enough to blend in yet novel enough to get noticed – so you can really pair it with anything, which is one of the features I love about this watch. I wore my watch with a floral blazer from Dynamite that’s just perfect for Spring. I paired the blazer with a pink cami and light jeans to give my outfit a muted pastel look. My watch fitted right in with this on trend outfit and matched perfectly with this circle bag I picked up at Simons.
If you love the wooden watch trend as much as I do I’ve got great news for you! I’ve teamed up with JORD to give one lucky winner $100 off their very own JORD watch! You can enter the contest using the link below. If you follow me on Instagram you can also find the link in my bio You’ll also get a promo code for 10% off your order just for entering 🙂
